Incredible April 24 meeting

April 24 Meeting - A thoroughly enjoyable time was had by all who attended the West Kent Military Lodge meeting and our thanks go to all the Brethren for their continued support.

The April 24 meeting Salient Points:

The April 24 meeting was ‘Tyled’ shortly after 1730hrs with around 90 Brethren in attendance (once again many additional chairs were required in the Lodge Room). Of those in attendance there were; 2 x Entered Apprentices, 2 x Fellowcrafts, 10 x Master Masons, 4 x Ruling Masters & 7 Past Masters, so approx. 28% of those attending were light blues. There were also 6 Invicta Awards holders present and 5 Provinces represented viz., West Kent, East Kent, London, Essex & Sussex.

The April 24 meeting started with the current Master W Bro Daniel Unthank introducing a number of the visitors to the Brethren. Daniel then formally welcomed V W Bro Ian Gallehawk, Deputy Provincial Grand Master of West Kent and W Bro Major Stephen Reynolds, Chairman of the Circuit of Service Lodges.

Lodge business included reading out the details for 3 joining members, balloting for 2 joining members (subject to receiving their certificates), reading out the details of a candidate for initiation and balloting for 4 honorary members. All ballots proved successful.

The 3 joining members that were read out at this meeting and the candidate for initiation will be balloted for at the June meeting (7th). Should his ballot be successful it is hoped that the candidate will be initiated in October. We also received another form for a candidate for initiation - a ‘Lewis’ 👏

We are extremely fortunate to have quite a number of further interested candidates (approx. 14) that have all expressed an interest in joining our ranks in either 2024 or 2025 and we look forward to them joining us. Of these numbers 4 are potential initiates, more details to follow.

The main event of the evening was a presentation by Clive Moore, the Beauchamp Lodge Historian titled, ‘Follow the Sappers - Quick March!’, which covered the history of the Lodge from formation to modern day and included many distinguished members of the Lodge. This was well received by all in attendance.

The Festive Board, now referred to as the ‘Mess’, commemorated the Union Flag 🇬🇧 and the Lodge’s 152nd anniversary and the tables were decorated accordingly (Union Flags everywhere) and historical pamphlets thereon.
