Kent Brethren and the Great War

Kent Brethren and the Great War is a publication by Peter Cartwright. It consists of forty-four A4 pages and contains both colour/mono photographs and includes the story of those Freemasons who were awarded the Victoria Cross in the war. It will be available separately from both Kent Provincial Offices and/or the The Kent Museum of Freemasonry in Canterbury. Price £10 (plus p&p).

About the author

W Bro Peter Cartwright PAGStB is a member of Old Palace Lodge No. 7173 meeting at Croydon Masonic Hall, but he was initiated into Croydon Millenary Lodge No.7745 which has now surrendered its warrant (2001).

Peter is a Grand Officer and currently holds the rank of Past Assistant Grand Standard Bearer.

He is widely known (in his Province) as the past editor of the Surrey Mason magazine which he edited for 10 years.

Peter has served on various committees including ‘Recruitment and Retention’, and a number of others. Three years ago he was awarded a certificate of "Distinguished Service", which only four others in his Province hold. He is currently Secretary of the Old Palace Lodge and Scribe E for Croydon Millenary Chapter 7745.

His hobbies include watercolour painting, in which he has painted various Freemasons including our very own Provincial Grand Master, Mark Estaugh and in our Deputy Provincial Grand Master Ian Gallehawk.
