Universal Freemasonry does it exist?

The term ‘Universal Freemasonry’ is often quoted yet, in recent years, we have been asking the question, ‘Is there a place for Freemasonry in the modern world?”

Unfortunately this simple post will not provide you with an answer to that question nor, in truth, will it explore it in any depth, indeed many might say that this important question is for the Rulers or the Steering Groups/Academia of our Organisation. Others, in contrast, might say that the question is best posed (and answered) at Lodge level (let us not ignore the introduction and benefits of ‘Pathway’).

Whatever you view let us not digress too far from the purpose of this particular post.

The purpose of this post titled, ‘Magnificent Universal Freemasonry’ is to show you, by way of a few simple images, the visitors to our Lodge’s website and the Countries they are visiting from.

Universal Freemasonry

So here are the three images we would like to share with you:

A picture of the world detailing the visitors to our website over a 7 (seven) day period and the Countries they are visiting from
Universal Freemasonry - Image 1 (7 day period)

The above image details the visitors to our website over a 7 (seven) day period and the Countries they are visiting from. The visitors shown total 117 visitors (although there are others not shown due to picture cropping) from quite an array of Countries. Main audience UK.

A picture of the world detailing the visitors to our website over the past 28 (twenty-eight) days and the Countries they are visiting from
Universal Freemasonry - Image 2 - previous 28 days

The above image details the number of visitors to our website over the past 28 (twenty-eight) days and the Countries they are visiting from. The visitors shown total 517 visitors (although there are others not shown due to picture cropping) from ever increasing Countries. Main audience UK (still 86%).

A picture of the world detailing the visitors to our website over the past 90 (ninety) days and the Countries they are visiting from
Universal Freemasonry - Image 3 - previous 90 days

The above image details the number of visitors to our website over the past 90 (ninety) days and the Countries they are visiting from. The visitors shown total 1,420 visitors (although there are others not shown due to picture cropping) and span the globe. Main audience UK (85%).

As Freemasons we may draw whatever conclusions that we will from these images (in general) and this post (in particular) - did you see what we did there? - but one conclusion that we may all be able to agree upon is that our Lodge website is reaching a global audience, something that would be extremely difficult, if not almost impossible (certainly without the assistance of professional, not to mention expensive marketing), for it to achieve otherwise.

So we say yippee for ‘tinternet’ or ‘tinterweb’ whatever the ‘pros’ call it, as it is taking our Lodge message to a wider audience that we can ever of imagined.
Just imagine though if each and every Lodge had such engagement, wow, where would we (Freemasonry) be then?

So let’s be bold and agree that Universal Freemasonry is not a myth, that it does exist, the interest/audience it seems is certainly out there. It may be however that we need to be aligning our Lodges more towards a global membership marketing solution than the traditional parochial one.

Maybe individuals prefer the draw of the ‘world famous organisation’ that Freemasonry is, rather than the ‘behind the scenes’ and often down-played qualities (and quantities) of the local Lodge, and who really can blame them.
Just look how successful The Hundred format has been for cricket. Whole families turning out to cheer on their teams;- colour, sponsorship, music, lights, excitement, and fantastic and positive media coverage. What would we give for that success?

In a previous post we had explored, “The astonishing reach of Social Media” and shared some of the comments/approaches made to our Lodge through the contact us facility on our website, and if you haven’t seen that post simply click the image below. It is quite revealing.

Perhaps the ‘tinternet’ or ‘tinterweb’ provides us all with the omnipresence we need to really deliver our message globally and consistently or perhaps all we simply need is for people to share our message with their friends, families and associates. What do you think?

Please share our site with your friends, families and associates and help us reach as many people as we possibly can - thank you.
