Derek Ashburn
Mechanical Engineering
From: 1977 To: Present
I served an apprenticeship in 1977 at Alcan Lynemouth then went to South Africa in 1984 with Sulzer Pumps. Stayed in South Africa for twenty years and came back to the United Kingdom in 2004.
Worked with Sulzer until 2013 and then moved to ERIKS UK.
Application Engineer
I joined Freemasonry in South Africa through a very good friend. My mother lodge is Lodge Friendship No. 95 on the register of the Grand Lodge of South Africa.
I took the ‘Chair’ in 2003-2004 after which I returned to the UK.
A great deal of friendship, a sense of belonging and purpose. I also get a great deal of personal satisfaction from the charitable donations and activities.
