Herewith Argentinean memoirs3 - Many of you from the Beauchamp Lodge will know that we had Argentinean visitors in the month of January. In fact our guests were with us from Tuesday 21st January through to Friday 31st January and it was quite a packed schedule.

Agustin Vazquez the Argentinean Military Historian (specialising in the Falklands Campaign) has agreed for us to share his words (Argentinean memoirs3) regarding the visit. We hope you enjoy his experiences as much as he obviously did.

Argentinean Memoirs3 - UK 2025 - Part 3 - Friday 24th January 2025

Visit to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) - On the morning of January 24th we were invited, along with other people (including some British veterans of the 3PARA), to a guided tour of the prestigious Sandhurst academy, the British Army's officer training center [sic]. It is located in the town of Camberley (county of Surrey) in the South East of England.

This place has an amazing military history and has witnessed the passage of outstanding individuals, who graduated from that institution as young officers and, years later, had great relevance in the history of England. One of them was Winston Churchill himself.

We had enormous fortune of being received and guided by Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Stuart Hepton, former member of the Parachute Regiment and Army Physical Training Corps, who surprised us with his vast knowledge of the history of Sandhurst and all the details that chronicle the hundreds of years existing in the halls and corridors of said academy.

For a few hours we felt immersed in a time machine that took us through the military history of the United Kingdom and the close relationship of the various wars portrayed in the spirit of the Academy. Memories and recollections of the battlefields that evoke a past of struggle and courage. Something that the future officers who are trained there will never be able to forget.

Later we were invited to the Officers' Mess where we were treated to a delicious lunch at the end of the tour. There Colonel VGM Carlos Carrizo-Salvadores said a few words of thanks to all those involved, as well as sharing his own impression of what was a historic day for those of us who were present.
