The Beauchamp Lodge Installation meeting, the West Kent Military and Associated Services Lodge, took place on Friday 27th January 2023, at the Wilmington Masonic Hall.
Mark Estaugh, Provincial Grand Master, Ian Gallehawk Deputy Provincial Grand Master, 3 Assistant Provincial Grand Masters and Roy Huntley, Provincial Grand Secretary, along with some 50 (fifty) West Kent Brethren were in attendance, to witness W.Bro Steve Hyland induct V.W. Bro Mark Eyles-Thomas in to the Master’s chair.

Those in attendance proudly wore their Military or Associated Services head-dress, ties and medals, as they entered the Lodge Room, before removing their head-dress prior to the ceremony starting.

The evening also included a talk from W. Bro Clive Moore, Lodge Historian titled, a Battlefield Meeting’, where he explained the events surrounding a meeting held at Nahakki, a village in Afghanistan. The meeting was called by the Lodge Jamrud on the 17th October 1935 and amongst those present were Brethren from the Highland Light Infantry and ‘Sappers’ from the Beauchamp Lodge. All were part of a large punitive force called ‘Mohforce’ sent to quell the marauding Mohamed tribes of India’s NW Frontier.

The evening was finished off with a superb Festive Board comprising of: Smoked Trout Fillet with creamed horseradish, Roasted Topside of Beef with Yorkshire pudding, potatoes and vegetables, Banoffee pie & Ice Cream, Cheese and Biscuits, Tea/Coffee all for the princely sum of £24.
The Brethren’s generosity was amply illustrated with raffle donations exceeding £500, a huge number of West Kent 2026 Festival envelopes being collected and many Brethren opting to demonstrate their generosity and technical know-how by utilising the WK 2026 Festival QR code.

Our next meeting is Thursday 6th April (as Friday 7th April clashes with Good Friday, Easter)
