Fake? - Here’s a really interesting take on the subject from former Scotland Yard investigator and Metropolitan Police detective and crime writer David Videcette

David writes in his blog: So what makes this particular piece of armour exceptional?

This Napoleonic cuirass is pierced right through, front to back, by what appears to have been a cannonball. At chest height, the cannonball has punctured a neat hole in the shiny brass surface of the breastplate, before it has apparently ripped through the person wearing it and exited from the backplate. At the rear, the exit hole is larger and fiercer - the twisted and torn metal of the backplate at odds with the neat hole seen at the front - click the photo to read his findings.
