On Parade 7th - The West Kent Military Lodge

We will shortly be on Parade 7th (June) and, due to the ceremony being undertaken (a double initiation), we will once again have to restrict numbers of those attending, as the Lodge Room simply cannot accommodate a large audience while a ceremony is being performed.

We can only apologise to our much valued and highly respected regular supporters of the Lodge who will be unable to secure a place at the meeting but please DO NOT vex … read on …

For those on parade 7th be aware that the DC will be inspecting, to which end we trust you have all polished your medals and boots and that your headdress has been brushed - you have been warned!

On parade 7th - After the ceremony there will be a ‘Hog Roast/BBQ’ and, as this will be an informal ‘stag’ event, non-masons, friends and prospective candidates are all very welcome.

The ‘Hog Roast/BBQ’ will start at 1930hrs and it is hoped that Members, Honorary members, soon-to-be-members and regular supporters of the Lodge will invite/bring along non-masons and prospective candidates to the ‘Hog Roast’ event.

This will be a fantastic opportunity for all non-masons attending to meet with other Masons, those newly initiated and members of our Executive, and, in general, to enjoy the environment of a Masonic Hall and Lodge Room. We will also have a few display tables with relevant literature/leaflets, militaria/weapons and historical masonic items.

The ‘Hog Roast/BBQ’, which is considered by the Lodge to be a completely separate event to the meeting, is open to other Lodges, so if your Lodge has a prospective candidate that you would like to bring along you are very, very welcome to do so. It is hoped that Ian Gallehawk Deputy Provincial Grand Master will address those present during the BBQ.

A couple of general points to hopefully assist in maximising everyone’s enjoyment of the evening:

• As you know our meetings are always well attended and although we have restricted attendance for this meeting to 65 brethren, the ‘Hog Roast/BBQ’ is not limited in the same way. As such the grassed car park area (to the rear of the dining hall) will be kept clear of cars. To this end we should be most grateful if, wherever practicable, those attending would consider car sharing, not only to help the environment but also to reduce car numbers in the car park,

• When parking in the Wilmington Masonic Hall car park please consider other car park users and park as near to the next car as allows you (and others) a safe access to/egress from your vehicle and is practicable and considerate,

• Our meeting is due to start at 1730hrs so please allow plenty of time for your journey, for parking and for signing in. The Hall should be open from around 1600hrs onwards,

• Finally the Wilmington Masonic centre DOES NOT have a card machine so any purchases and/or donations to charity can only be made by cash. Please therefore bring plenty of small notes (£5) and plenty of £1 coins for our collection boxes/any fines imposed - on parade 7th.
