On 24th June, Armed Forces Day, our Senior Warden, Dan Unthank, took part in the 13 Bridges Challenge along with other Masons from the Circuit of Service Lodges. The 13 Bridges challenge was to walk, march or run the 10 mile route and raise funds for SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

Unfortunately, those running the 10 miles had to do so remotely for safety reasons, but the runs were recorded on apps and verified by the organisers. Despite it being very hot and humid, Dan completed the 10 miles in 86 minutes.

The Circuit of Service Lodges raised over £8,000 and the event as a whole raised in excess of £83,000 for the charity.

Dan completed the run as part of a wider challenge to run 1000 miles in a year. This challenge is being undertaken to raise funds for the Masonic Charitable Foundation as part of the West Kent 2026 Festival. Donations to support Dan’s run can be made via https://donate.givetap.co.uk/f/masonic-charitable-foundation/fest2026-west-kent-2026-festival/1000-miles
